Revisit an old idea you may not have considered for some time — using a planner! A planner is an extremely powerful tool in our daily routines. There are countless benefits to using it, all of which are vital to being successful in life — or just keeping sane! 😂 Do you struggle with how to use a planner effectively? Read our tips below.
Are you using a planner to stay organized?
No matter how organized you would describe yourself, we all struggle with maintaining this level of organization from time to time. Sometimes, things can get a little overwhelming and sometimes there’s a task thrown your way that can interrupt your schedule.
And if you’re anything like me, you find it hard to stay productive and work smarter when your structure has been messed with.
But if there’s one thing I’ve found, it’s that having the right planner can change all of that. You need a planner that will give you the opportunity to plan ahead so you’ll never be thrown off course for too long again.
My go-to planner is, of course, everybody’s favorite: The Getting Stuff Done Planner. And it is one that keeps me on track and keeps me accountable always. But you can combine a daily planner with so many more planners and journals to be successful. There’s no one-size-fits-all.
Every career woman needs a planner or a notebook. We need something to write down our goals and to-dos for the day! And while everyone wants to be incredibly organized, not everyone has a system, and not everyone has a planner.
That’s why the Getting Stuff Done Planner is the kind of diary that has a specific formula to actually help you get sh*t done and be more productive.
So, if you’ve been feeling a bit chaotic recently (we’ve all been there), the one thing that helps get back on track is a great plan! And you can only create this plan when you have the right tools to get you started and keep you on track.
The planner is split into two parts. On the left-hand side, you’re recommended to fill in your top priority to-dos. You can include notes for the day, and even an inspirational message at the top of the page to keep you going. Personally, on the left-hand side, I make sure only to fill in my top priority to-dos.
Don’t get me wrong, my to-do list could probably fill an A4 page, but in my planner, I only make sure to write down the most important that I need to focus on and plan in the little niggly tasks on a Wednesday, where my schedule lightens up and I can finally eat the elephant.
On the opposite side of the page, you can fill in and even plan ahead your meals and snacks for the day, which I find makes me stay on track for my health goals.
I feel too guilty writing down unhealthy things and even when I plan ahead I’ve set what I’m having for lunch and never deviate from it. Further down, you can even track your water intake, which is so important. You can even leave personal notes, fill in daily exercise and expenses.
The one best tip I can give for being organized is to keep everything in one place. It will help keep your mind focussed and will not promote scattered thinking. This is the trick to using a planner to stay organized.
If you want to be really organized, you have to think about every area of your life.
It’s not just about organizing your work life, it’s about keeping your personal and your work life together and not separate.
While you’re planning your day, you can also be prompted to fill in the personal sections which will make you more organized overall.
You can start with your meals for the day, tick the boxes to make sure you’re getting enough water. Fill out your planned self-care activity from a face mask to a hair appointment, write personal notes and appointments and make notes on your exercise for the day.
Plus you can track your expenses, so you know you’ll be on top of every single thing! Sound good?
Over the past few years, we’ve learned about the power of writing it down. Not only does it help you remember appointments, but it’ll make you more likely to commit to eating healthy and working out if it’s all there on the page!
So we designed the planner to be just like your very own personal assistant. We’ve thought about every area of a career girl’s life so you don’t have to remember everything and rely on so many different channels. Just write it down and get ready to start getting stuff done!
